+6,500 join Southstar Drug's 13th annual run
Southstar Drug’s 13th annual Run for Wellness, held in partnership with Maxicare Healthcare Corporation, kickstarted on June 16, 2024 at the University of the Philippines Diliman Academic Oval in Quezon City.
The run drew over 6,500 runners who participated in 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km race categories in either the men's or women's divisions. Of the proceeds raised from this year’s run, Php 1 million will go towards supporting Filipino Olympians Eumir Marcial, Aira Villegas, Nesthy Petecio, John Ceniza, Elreen Ando, Vanessa Sarno, Levi Jung-Ruivivar, and Joanie Delgaco who are currently preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics in July. A donation of Php 1 million was also made to the UP Diliman Health Service to help further enhance the healthcare services they provide to the community.
Present during the run were House Deputy Majority Leader and Tingog Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre; UP President Angelo Jimenez; UP Diliman Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Roehl Jamon and Senior Community Relations Officer Karitha Ana Guerrero-Ordiz; Olympians John Ceniza (weightlifting) and Joanie Delgaco (rowing); and Southstar Drug and Maxicare executives.
The next leg of the run will be on September 15, 2024 in Naga City, Bicol where Southstar Drug was founded in 1937.
