The Marketplace doubles down on sustainability, cutting-edge tech at new store
The Marketplace, Robinsons Retail’s premium food retail banner, recently opened its newest store on July 4, 2024 at Opus in Bridgetowne, Quezon City.
Setting a milestone in sustainable retail, the new store has fully integrated an innovative refrigeration system called Extreme Transcritical Efficiency (ETE) System that replaces harmful hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants with carbon dioxide, a naturally occurring, nonflammable, and nontoxic gas. Designed to minimize the effects of heat entrapment, the ETE system is also optimized to operate in warm, tropical climates resulting to substantial energy savings and lower operational costs.
Carbon dioxide‘s significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) of one (1) and its Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero (0), compared to traditional HFC and CFC refrigerants that have GWPs ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 and ODPs ranging from 0.01 to 1.0, allow for a reduction in ecological footprint. The ETE system is also optimized to operate efficiently in warm, tropical climates due to its design that minimize the effects of heat entrapment resulting to substantial energy savings and lower operational costs.
