A Boy, a Bicycle, and a Legacy: Remembering John Gokongwei Jr.

John Gokongwei Jr. was an earnest dreamer. He envisioned a future where he could build something meaningful and create a legacy that gave others the opportunities he didn’t have.

After having founded companies that form the Gokongwei Group, which includes Robinsons Retail, Mr. John and his brothers founded the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) in 1992, guided by the belief that education is a driving force for sustainable national development. GBF currently focuses on advancing STEM education and provides scholarships, endowments, trainings, and other programs.
