Ministop partners with PayMaya towards a cashless, digital economy
Pinoy mobile users now have a quick and convenient way to purchase their favorite items from Ministop thanks to PayMaya’s QR payment system, starting November 24, 2017. Users of the app no longer have to use physical currency at Ministop branches in Cyberscape Alpha and Cyberscape Beta; all they have to do is scan the store’s QR code with their smartphones.
Through its QR-based payments, PayMaya and partner retailers are paving the way for the mainstream adoption of digital payments for all Filipinos.
“We’re excited that Ministop customers can now use PayMaya’s QR-based payment technology. With this initiative, Filipinos will not only have a delightful and convenient way to pay via QR, but it will also help place the Philippines ahead of the curve in growing a cashless, digital economy,” said Paolo Azzola, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director at PayMaya Philippines.
Merchants, on the other hand, also benefit from integrating innovative technologies into their operations as they become more versatile in addressing customer needs. Ministop is the latest retail merchant to adopt PayMaya’s QR-based payment technology, which recently saw an accelerated rollout in cities across the country.
“The future of retail is digital, and we’re glad that Ministop is the country’s first convenience store to employ cashless payments. This allows for quicker, more secure, and hassle-free transactions,” said Thelma Roxas-Jacob, General Manager of Ministop.
“Since the brand arrived in the Philippines, our focus has always been our customers as we’ve been offering 24/7 convenience alongside diverse product options at reasonable prices. Now, we are adapting alternative payment options that are compatible to their needs and lifestyle,” she continued.
