Widening its scope of payment options for customers, South Star Drug became the first drugstore in the Philippines to bring GCash’s QR-based transactions to its stores. The launch started last January 29, 2018, with SSD branches in C. Raymundo Pasig, Pasig Rotonda, Guadalupe, Herrera Makati, Philamlife Las Pinas and Merville, Paranaque. Roll-out to more stores are planned across Metro Manila.
“South Star is always working to improve customer experience and find ways of doing things better - that includes giving our customers more payment options. With almost 500 stores nationwide, we have one of the largest drugstore networks in the Philippines and we want to offer convenience and ease to our loyal patrons. With Globe G-Cash’s QR code program, even without cash or credit card, our customers can make a purchase in any of our stores with just a few taps on their smart phones,” said Christine Tueres, Deputy General Manager of South Star Drug.
GCash sees the partnership as strategic and beneficial to customers given the merchandise diversity of South Star Drug.
“We are proud to have South Star Drugstore as the first GCash QR payment partner drugstore in Metro Manila. South Star Drugstore has a wide range of prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products, and a variety of food, personal care and health and wellness items. This is why we see them as a strategic partner for GCash as we try to make it more convenient for their customers through our QR payment system,” said Anthony Thomas, Mynt President and CEO.
