Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. (RRHI), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Pasig City, will open work immersion opportunities to K-12 Senior High School Students for the School Year 2019-2020. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on July 3, 2019 between Robinsons Retail and DepEd Division of Pasig City.
The Senior High School Work Immersion Program is a requirement for graduation in secondary education. Much like in college practicum courses, Grades 11 and 12 students are exposed to actual work environments related to their chosen professional tracks under the K-12 curriculum.
The program will cover the following areas: understanding work ethics, appreciating management and business processes, and applying skills learned and values acquired in school.
"DepEd-Schools Division Office-Pasig City is grateful as we are fortunate to have partnered with Robinsons Retail in accommodating Senior High School learners aiming to achieve quality learning. Truly, Robinsons Retail's commitment to this partnership is in realization that education of the youth is everybody's business," said Pasig City Schools Division Superintendent Dominico C. Idana.
The work immersion program will have its pilot implementation by August 2019 at Robinsons Retail’s locations, with Grade 12 senior high students from selected public schools in Pasig City as beneficiaries. The students will complete a minimum of 80 hours and is required to document their experiences through weekly activity reports.
“We are launching this partnership with the Department of Education to create more inclusive learning opportunities for K-12 students, as well as to show our confidence the employability of K-12 graduates given proper guidance from and collaboration with the private sector. Robinsons Retail can serve as a training ground for these students to apply their skills and learn new ones. And after they graduate, there is a higher likelihood of absorbing them into our pool of employees,” said Gabby Tagala, Robinsons Retail Vice President for Human Resources.
