Robinsons Supermarket on the importance of supporting local farmers

Robinsons Supermarket launched its “Heart to Cart” campaign on July 20, 2024 during the annual fresh produce Freshtival at Robinsons Place Manila.

Featuring the stories of 10 member farmers of the Bosigan Multipurpose Cooperative, a group of over 100 Benguet farmers who supply fresh produce to Robinsons Supermarket stores in North Luzon and Bulacan, the campaign hopes to raise awareness on the importance of directly supporting local farmers and producers, advocating for sustainable production practices, and supporting local economies.

Bosigan farmer Wegina Lodias shared how efforts like these benefit farmers, “Na-maximize na yung binebenta naming gulay; na-maximize na ang income; at saka siyempre, ang result, happy na ang farmer" [We get to maximize the produce we get to sell; we get to maximize our income; and then of course, the farmer is happy].

To further support BMPC and its member farmers, a donation was made to help purchase farm equipment and help enhance production capabilities. Present to receive the donation were Lodias, Clifford Mitas, Paulita Selvino, Jane Basuyao, and Sarah Atting, five of the 10 BMPC members whose stories were featured during the event.
